Chiang Chen Industrial Charity Foundation donated HK $ 2 million for the establishment of Chiang Chen Chair Professor of Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Institute of Education. This course can train outstanding talents in education and related academic fields, to promote the continuous development of China's education and enhance the cultural and scientific level of the whole nation.

The Foundation sponsored The 10th SCBA International Symposium in Beijing, it was held in Beijing International Convention Centre on July 19-23, 2004. The theme of the symposium is ”Science for a Better Life”. It had 750 abstracts, six plenary talks, 52 workshop sessions, 5 Discussion forums and attracted over 2000 attendees.

Chinese and British Industrial Design Forum 2004

In order to promote the latest Concept of International Design and Chinese Industrial Design, the Foundation has sponsored Shenzhen Productivity Promotion Centre, Shenzhen Government External Office and British Consulate General in Guangzhou to co-organise Chinese and British Industrial Design Forum 2004 on 2-3 Dec. They have invited experts of Industrial Design from China, Britain, Hong Kong and Taiwan to hold discussions on creative industry, brand strategy and urban development.

Tsing Hua Poverty Assistant Program

Tsing Hua Poverty Assistant Program

HKU SPACE and Tsing Hua University are joint organizers of Tsing Hua Poverty Assistant Program. This program aims at establishing a Mutual Education TV network in 49 backward provinces in Northwest China. The universities will provide training on such systems to government officials and teachers from the backward provinces in Northwest China. The training is held in HKU Space and includes lectures, guided tour and group discussions.

The cost for this program is funded by 3 parties:
Tsing Hua University is responsible for the cost of Shenzhen Training and air tickets.
HKU SPACE is responsible for the administrative expenses of the training in HKU Space and the rent for classrooms.
The Foundation sponsors the cost of the Hong Kong training.

Tsinghua University National Education for Tomorrow's Leaders Cultivation Program

Tsinghua University National Education for Tomorrow's Leaders Cultivation Program

The Foundation cooperates with New Generation Cultural Association to organize an 8-day Leadership Training Program for 3 consecutive years. This Program is supported by Education Unit of Chinese Government, the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government (HKSAR). The program includes 7 seminars given by distinguished professors of Tsing Hua University, visits and discussion groups.

This program attracted more than 1,300 applications. 150 of which were selected in the end (60 high school students and 90 undergraduates). The program will start from 25 December 2004 to 1 January 2005 in Beijing.

Sponsored by Chiang Chen Industrial Charity Foundation, organized by Journalism and Media Studies Centre of the University of Hong Kong, JMSC Fifth Anniversary Lecture Series: Rethinking Hong Kong – “The Shifting Cultural Responsibilities of Chinese Newspapers Views from Taipei, Guangzhou and Hong Kong”. It was held on the 18th of December 2004. HKU visiting professor Lung Ying Tai was the moderator. Speakers are from Taipei, Mr. Yang Zhao, Chief Editor of The Journalist and Mr. Xiang Yang, Former Chief Editor of The Independence Evening Post, from Guangzhou, Mr. Xiang Yang, the Cultural Editor of Southern Weekend and Mr. Chai Zi-Wen, Cultural Editor of Southern Weekend, from Hong Kong Mr. Ma Ka Fai, Planning Director of Ming Pao and Mr. Cheung Kwai Yeung, Hon Director-General of Hong Kong Press Council. The six speakers shared their views on the role of literary supplements in today's Chinese Press.

Hai Lian Primary Schools

Hai Lian Primary Schools

To support the rebuild of three provinces of Northeast region in China and the development of education services in remote areas. Starting from next year, the Foundation will donate ten Hai Lian Primary Schools to Chinese Overseas Friendship Association. The Foundation will donate two primary schools each year and the donation will be completed in 5 consecutive years. Besides 10 primary schools, the Foundation will sponsor 100 senior management executives from manufacturing industry of Northeast China, taking training programs in Hong Kong.

CityU Youth Technology Project Competition 2005

EN: 由基金會贊助,城市大學製造工程及工程管理學系、香港科技教育學會及中華科技出版社聯合舉辦的「青年科技習作比賽2005」己於5月14日星期六()在香港城市大學圓滿結束。由秘書長代表基金會擔任主禮嘉賓。是項比賽的目的是獎勵在科技學習活動中表現出色的初中學生,從而誘發學生升讀並投身製造工程。當日有二十多家中學參加,出席師生人數達二百多人,而展出的設計習作更超過一百件。展出作品包括風力水陸兩用車、電子色士風、模礙家居防盜系統及公路維修防撞設計等等,充份表現學生的創意及在製造工程方面的天份。
