Innovation Scholarship Fund(US)

Foundation and Wellesley College set up a fund to provide income in support of Chinese students to carry out research and to complete ten weeks of summer research courses during summer. Students from Hong Kong or Taiwan are mainly in their third year and are in the disciplines of science, technology, engineering or mathematics. The financial support covers one year’s tuition fee and living expenses.

Chiang Chen Industrial Scholarship(HK)

Chen Hsong Group established the “Chen Hsong Scholarship” in 1980 to give encouragement to hard-working and outstanding students. It was renamed as “Chiang Chen Industrial Scholarship” in 2008, with the Foundation being responsible for its administration. Now the scholarship continues to give over 40 awards to outstanding students from the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the City University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Hong Kong Institution of Education and the Hong Kong Institution of Vocational Education. Up to 2017, the total amount of the scholarships exceeds HKD$17,000,000, with more than 1,700 students being awarded the scholarship.

Chiang Chen Overseas Exchange Scholarship was established by the Foundation in 2004 for the purpose of supporting university students in Hong Kong to broaden their horizons and develop their international outlook. Every year 14 – 16 students from the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the City University of Hong Kong recevice the awards for exchange programs overseas for a period of six months to a year. Up to 2017, the total donations of the scholarship is over HK$30,000,000, with more than 1,500 students being benefited.

The Foundation has established the “Chiang Chen Overseas Fellowship” since 2006 to encourage and assist outstanding students from the top fifteen engineering universities to pursue further studies at top universities in the USA, so that they may broaden their horizons and make contributions to society in future. The Chiang Chen Overseas Fellowship Scheme extended to Hong Kong in 2014. Every year, maximum 3 students are selected for the award of the fellowship. Each fellowship will carry US$ 50,000 to cover tuition fees. The amount of donation exceeds HK$ 800,000 and 2 students have been awarded the fellowship.

The Foundation has established the “Chiang Chen Overseas Fellowship” since 2006 to encourage and assist outstanding students from the top fifteen engineering universities in China (including Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tianjin University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, South China University of Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Dalian University of Technology, University of Science and Technology of China, Shandong University, Peking University and Fudan University) to pursue further studies at top universities in the USA, so that they may broaden their horizons and make contributions to society in future. Qualified recipients of the fellowship are students of engineering with proven academic achievements but who are financially challenged. Every year, ten awardees are selected and each of them is awarded US $50,000 to take postgraduate programs at famous universities in the USA. Up to 2017, the total donation is over US $40,000,000 and around 90 students have been awarded the fellowship.

In October 2007, the Foundation established the “Chiang Chen Heze Scholarship” with Shandong University to provide tuition grants for undergraduate students from Heze Region, the hometown of Dr. Chiang Chen, in Shandong Province. Every year, forty students are selected and awarded the scholarship. If the students meet academic requirements, they will be entitled to the awards for four years until their completion of undergraduate studies. The amout of donation exceeded HK$3,000,000 and with more than 1,500 students benefited.

The Foundation has established the “Chiang Chen Scholarship” since 2006 for students in Mainland China to pursue their master’s degrees so that after graduation they can help China’s progress in the fields of scientific, technological, social, economic and cultural development. Disciplines covered by the scholarship include law, politics, economics, engineering, computer science and electronic science. Each year the Foundation selects 10-15 students from each of the partner universities and provides each awardee with RMB 10,000. If the awardee can satisfy the required academic level, they will be awarded another RMB 10,000 in the second year. And for the disciplines of law, politics and economics, the most outstanding recipients from each of the six universities will get an extra US$10,000 to enable them to engage in exchange programs abroad for a period of 3-6 months. Phase II of the program has been started in 2011 and there are 15 partner universities. They are: Renmin University, University of Political Science and Law, Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Foreign Affairs University, University of Science and Technology of China, Tianjin University, Dalian University of Technology and Northwestern Polytechnical University.

The Foundation has established the “Chiang Chen Assistance Grants” since 2011. The assistance grants provide financial help to needy students. Eight partner universities have joined the scheme. Ten students with lesser means from each partner university will be selected each year and each student will get RMB 5,000. These eight partner universities are Zhejiang University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, University of Science and Technology of China, Tianjin University, Dalian University of Technology and Northwestern Polytechnical University.

The Chiang Chen Overseas Fellowship Scheme was extended to Taiwan in 2014. Every year, there will be two students selected for the award of fellowship which carries US$ 50,000 to cover tuition fee.
