The Foundation has established the “Chiang Chen Scholarship” since 2006 for students in Mainland China to pursue their master’s degrees so that after graduation they can help China’s progress in the fields of scientific, technological, social, economic and cultural development.
Disciplines covered by the scholarship include law, politics, economics, engineering, computer science and electronic science. Each year the Foundation selects 10-15 students from each of the partner universities and provides each awardee with RMB 10,000. If the awardee can satisfy the required academic level, they will be awarded another RMB 10,000 in the second year. And for the disciplines of law, politics and economics, the most outstanding recipients from each of the six universities will get an extra US$10,000 to enable them to engage in exchange programs abroad for a period of 3-6 months.
Phase II of the program has been started in 2011 and there are 15 partner universities. They are: Renmin University, University of Political Science and Law, Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Foreign Affairs University, University of Science and Technology of China, Tianjin University, Dalian University of Technology and Northwestern Polytechnical University.
